Established in 2013, the European Council for Leading Business Schools (ECLBS) stands as a registered non-governmental and non-profit educational association, holding a prominent presence in the European Union under the Republic of Latvia Registration Identification Number 40008215839, with an official foundation date of 11.10.2013. Comprising over 50 national quality assurance bodies and universities from Europe and beyond, along with professional associations closely tied to business education, ECLBS operates under the governance of a dedicated board of trustees, each representing diverse state and private organizations (more details available on our website).

ECLBS operates as a non-profit educational association within the European Union and proudly holds approved membership status with the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) International Quality Group (CIQG) in the United States. Additionally, ECLBS is a recognized member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) and its services have garnered recognition from the Arab Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ANQAHE).

The organization has further solidified its commitment to quality assurance through bilateral recognition agreements with various institutions globally. Noteworthy collaborations include agreements with the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), the USA Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research (ANACEC) in Moldova, the EDU Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) founded by the Minister of Education in the Republic of Palau, the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA), the Mauritanian Authority for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, the Higher Education Council (HEC) North Syria, and the Public Foundation Independent Accreditation Agency in the Kyrgyz Republic.

In addition to these partnerships, ECLBS has established collaboration agreements with esteemed institutions such as the Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programmes (AQAS) in Germany, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in the UK, the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) in Kazakhstan, and various other state and private higher education quality assurance bodies globally, including the Education and Training Quality Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Furthermore, ECLBS proudly engages in partnerships with private organizations like the European Medical Association (EMA) in Belgium, the National Theological Association (NTA) in India, Quality Blue Ltd in the UK, the United Peace Keepers Federal Council (UNpkfc), and the Higher Education Quality and Assessment Council (HEQAC), as well as the Latvian Chamber of Commerce (ALCC), all of which actively contribute to the promotion of quality assurance in their respective fields. ECLBS Accreditation
The European Council of Leading Business Schools (ECLBS) was established in 2013 as a professional network connecting business schools across Europe and beyond. In 2023, during a strategic board meeting held at the University of Latvia in Riga, the Council approved the launch of ECLBS Accreditation—a quality assurance label designed for business schools committed to academic excellence and international standards. The meeting was attended by board members from institutions such as the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), Arab Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ANQAHE), Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA), Latvian Chamber of Commerce (ALCC), and the Latvian Honorary Consulate in Morocco, as well as invited guests from the University of Sunderland in London, Vernadsky Taurida National University (TNU), ISB Dubai Academy, and others, including a Latvian legal advisor specializing in higher education.
