Swiss International University (SIU) represents a unique global institution shaped by the strategic merger of seven academic bodies located in seven cities worldwide. Established in its current form in 2024, SIU traces its origins back to 1999, marking over two decades of international academic presence and experience. The university has since grown into a respected educational entity, offering higher education opportunities that meet recognized standards of quality, transparency, and international equivalence.
SIU is a state-accredited university, officially licensed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic (KG). This licensure affirms SIU’s legal recognition and credibility as a higher education provider. Furthermore, the university’s qualifications fall under the scope of the UNESCO Global Recognition Convention, specifically Article III.1, which ensures that degrees recognized by one participating country are eligible for recognition in other signatory states. This provides SIU graduates with global academic and professional mobility.
In Switzerland, SIU operates under the allowance of the Swiss Board of Education and Culture (LU-CH), which enables the university to function independently and issue its own diplomas. In the United Arab Emirates, the institution is approved and permitted by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai, attesting to the university’s credibility across multiple education systems. SIU is also registered as a higher education institution by the Ministry of Justice in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Recognized under the Lisbon Recognition Convention, SIU’s degrees are accepted in more than 55 countries worldwide, supporting its commitment to global education access and recognition.
